BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, JANUARY 15TH 2012 (CUOPM)
– St. Kitts and Nevis’ Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. Dr. Denzil L.
Douglas says Saturday’s re-election of the President of the Republic of
China (Taiwan), His Excellency Dr. Ma Ying-jeou is indicative of the
confidence that the people of the Republic of China (Taiwan) have placed
in his ability, especially the peaceful approaches to Mainland China and
Viable Diplomacy to the World.
“I am sure your country will continue to
benefit from your great talent and experience.
Indeed the road ahead will be filled with challenges and I assure
you of my country’s firm support,” said Prime Minister Douglas in a
congratulatory message, the first by a world leader following the
election results in which Ma obtained over 51 percent of the votes.
Congratulating the President-elect on
his re-election on behalf of the Government and people of the Federation
of St Kitts and Nevis and on his own behalf, the four-term Prime
Minister said the Republic of China (Taiwan) “has long been a faithful
partner of St Kitts and Nevis for nearly twenty-nine year.”
“The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis
remains firmly committed to the friendship and fraternal goodwill that
have characterized and guided the relationship.
This we trust will continue to produce benefits of mutual
advantage for both our countries,” said Dr. Douglas.
“May I once again extend on my own
behalf as well as the Government and people of the Federation of St.
Kitts and Nevis sincere congratulations on your second term in office
and on all your future endeavours to further the cause of Freedom,
Democracy and Prosperity in your beautiful country. Please accept, Mr.
President, the assurances of my highest consideration,” Prime Minister
Douglas said.
